Bon Voyage Tony and Nikki! Sad to see you leave. Have fun, and we'll be glad to see you come back if you can't find somewhere better in the World (fat chance!)

Wow, 6 months of traveling around the world. I'm jealous.

I've got a few suggestions. Vancouver is a great city, and its fun to explore Granville Island market, ride bikes around the sea wall surrounding Stanley park or hang out on the beach in English Bay or Kitsalano. The Museum of Anthropology at UBC has some amazing Haida totem poles and art and while you're there you can visit the famous nude Wreck beach. However, the best scenery involves hiking. On the way to Whistler, you can do a day hike or overnight on the Garibaldi Lake trail, which is a bit strenuous but well rewarding (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kurioso/sets/622437/). You might also want to do some whale watching.

In San Francisco, I would recommend avoiding Fisherman's wharf, but definately seeing the Palace of the Fine Arts, Twin Peaks and Golden Gate Park. Check out the Mission for a taste of Mexican culture, North Beach for Italian culture and the Castro for gay culture. See a Giants baseball game at SBC park, (easy to get tickets to) and check out some of the great restaurants in the city. Make sure you go to a Taqueria for cheap Mexican food. Out of town, I'd recommend checking out the wines in Sonoma. I'd also recommend checking out Mono Lake, the Bodie ghost town, the Bristlecone Pine forest with the oldest living things, as well as Mount Whitney (highest mountain in the 48 states) on your way from Yosemite to Death Valley Park.

In HK I would suggest staying at the YMCA in Kowlown which is almost hotel quality. Its well positioned, a block from the tube and a block from the ferry to HK. Its much better than the firetraps of the ChungKing "mansions". Also get an Octopus transit card, which is like an Oyster, but you can buy stuff in stores with it as well.

Have fun on your vacation.

I have a suggestion for Fiji.
We stayed at a place called otto and fannys. It was in the yasawa islands. (http://www.ottoandfanny.com/)

It was in lonely planet.
it was 100fiji dollors a day or somthing like that but included all food which was yum.
It also had the dive centre next to it (only one in the yasawas)
Reef is at the end of the island (right of otto and fannys) I snorkelled all day every day.
I have had 2 other sets of friends stay there as well and they liked it as well.
Cheers
dan
